Lately, I’ve been feeling a bit creatively blocked. I haven’t had many good ideas and haven’t felt my most inspired. This is obviously a common feeling amongst creatives (right?… RIGHT?!)
As artists, we go through phases of feeling more or less inspired. Certain days, I find myself with a healthy dose of inspiration paired with the need to put my head down and do the work. Other days, I’m in a more extreme state, either feeling intoxicating inspiration or total hopelessness and doom. If you’re currently feeling one of these extremes or another, I have good news or bad news: It won’t last. You will swing back and forth and experience the whole spectrum, so long as you don’t stop swinging.
In the second installment of my audio series ‘I Ask Myself,’ in an effort to show myself the same compassion I show my friends, I give myself the advice I would give to a good friend experiencing a creative block. I discuss the analogy that I’ll call “The Pipe of Creativity.” Audio below for paid subscribers.
